Teen raped, rescued, then kidnapped again

SHE had been in hospital for just a day after being rescued from her rapist when she was kidnapped again.

The 15-year-old girl, who was later released by her captors, claimed that they were members of a gang which her rapist belonged to, reported Harian Metro.

Her nightmare was said to have begun on Sunday when she left her house in Cheras, Selangor, at about 5pm.

Her mother said shortly after that she was unable to contact her daughter, the sixth of nine children.

The teen later told police that she was held captive by a man named Hairi, in his 30s. He kept her in an undisclosed location.

But her mother managed to find and rescue her. Harian Metro did not explain how the rescue came about.

The mother and girl then lodged a police report. The teen was later sent to Kajang Hospital for treatment on Monday.

But while resting in her hospital bed, the girl said a man in his 20s visited her around noon and threatened to harm her if she did not obey him.

The teen told Harian Metro on Tuesday that the man handed her a set of clothes and ordered her to change into them.

Said the girl: 'At that time, there were no nurses around. I was scared, so I just did what I was told.'

She said they then left the hospital by getting out through a ground-floor toilet window.

She was then bundled into a Proton Wira that was parked near the hospital entrance.

She said: 'I was taken to a nearby village in Sungai Lui and led to a pondok (shack). Inside, there were six other people whom I did not know.'

She said that three of them were men and the other three, women, all between 20 and 30 years old.

The girl continued: 'They threatened to kill me and my family members if I did not retract the police report I had lodged earlier. I was kept in the shack overnight.'

Around 8am the following day, she alleged that she was threatened again and she caved in.

'An hour later, one of the suspects took me to the police station in Kajang to retract my report,' she said.

But at the station, the police detained her and contacted her anxious family members.

The girl's mother was said to have fainted and remained unconscious for half an hour when she had learnt that her daughter was missing from the hospital.

The 40-something woman was overcome with emotion when she was reunited with her daughter.

When contacted, police confirmed that a report had been lodged about the rape.

Said Kajang district's police chief, Superintendent Toha Abdullah: 'We have detained a suspect in the rape case and will interrogate him according to the law.

But Supt Toha declined to confirm the girl's kidnap allegations.

He said: 'The girl appeared at a district police station on Tuesday and she has been sent back to the hospital for further treatment.

'The welfare department has taken over the care and safety of the teenager.'

A CYCLING trip at a Malaysian plantation for two women turned scary when one of them was kidnapped.

Madam Tay Juan, 55, was held for three nights.

The Malaysian was released only after her family paid a ransom of RM650,000 ($270,000) last week.

Madam Tay was with her sister-in-law, believed to be a Singaporean, when she was abducted.

Madam Tay usually goes cycling or for walks every evening near the plantation, which is secluded but connected to small lanes.

The oil palm plantation is not far from her home in Sungei Mati in Ledang, Johor.

On 22 Jun, her youngest brother, who has a construction firm in Singapore, and his wife went over from Singapore to visit his family, reported China Press.

Madam Tay's sister-in-law decided to accompany her that day. At about 6.30pm, the sister-in-law was cycling in front and Madam Tay was following her when they saw a car slowing down.

When the sister-in-law turned around to look, she saw several men grab Madam Tay and push her into the car.

The sister-in-law quickly got off her bicycle, hid in a drain for a short while, and then ran to Madam Tay's home and called for help.

By the time the other family members reached the scene, they could only see Madam Tay's bicycle.

Later that day, the kidnappers called Madam Tay's family, who run an umbrella-making business, and demanded a ransom of RM1 million.

But they said they could not pay that much, and after much negotiation, the kidnappers settled for RM650,000.

The police were then called and a family member paid the ransom three days later.

It's not known why it took the family three days to pay up.

Madam Tay was released unhurt at about 6pm the same day on 25 Jun.

At 4.30pm the next day, police nabbed six suspects - five men and a woman - during a series of raids in Johor Baru.

When The New Paper contacted Johor police, they didn't comment, only saying that investigations are ongoing

Johor police deputy crime chief Raja Shaharom told The New Paper that the men, all aged between 19 and 35, are Malaysians and the woman is a 25-year-old Vietnamese factory worker.

He said one of the men had an earlier conviction for burglary. He had served a year's jail for that.

Madam Tay told China Press that the kidnappers held her prisoner in a makeshift tent at the plantation and only fed her instant noodles.

Her hands had blisters and were nearly blue-black from having been bound.

The New Paper was unable to contact Madam Tay or her family. One report said she has five children.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Johor police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said they were told of the kidnapping soon after the ransom demand and quickly formed small teams to investigate the case.

During the raids, he said police also seized RM560,000, believed to be part of the ransom, three limousines and 13 handphones.

Mr Mohd Mokhtar said the six suspects will be in police custody until Friday.

He said another suspect is still at large.

If found guilty of kidnapping, the suspects could face the death penalty or life imprisonment and caning.

Mr Mohd Mokhtar said police also want to contact Mr Chew Ern Tik, 39, a Malaysian, whom they believe can help in their investigations.

Malaysian govt denies cover-up in Kelantan prince scandal

KUALA LUMPUR : The Malaysian government has denied any cover-up in the alleged abuse of the teenage Indonesian model wife by her Malaysian prince husband.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's department Nazri Aziz will investigate if a formal report is lodged, as he said no one is above the law.

Meanwhile, the Kelantan royal family has denied all allegations of wrongdoing by Tengku Mohd Fakhry, also known as Tunku Temengganong.

17-year-old Manohara Odelia Pinot made the front page of Malaysian papers after news of her dramatic escape shocked the nation.

The teary teenage model claimed that she was sexually abused and tortured by her husband Tengku Mohd Fakhry, who treated her, she said, like a toy.

Last August, the then 16-year-old Manohara,whose father is French, married the 31-year-old prince.

Now back in Jakarta, she said she has had enough, and is filing for a divorce.

Manohara's mother Daisy Fajarina has also vowed to press charges against the prince pending a full medical report.

Speaking in Kuala Lumpur, government officials say they are in the dark as there has been no formal report lodged so far.

"He just happens to be the son of the Sultan... no one is above the law. This report is criminal act against the state and we will take action," said Minister Nazri, a Minister in the Prime Minister's department.

The Kelantan royal family, has also dismissed the allegations as slanderous and defended its youngest prince.

"Prove it. Manohara must be prepared to go to an independent doctor in Australia or France, only then it's fair," argued Mohd Sabri Shafiee, a spokesman for Tengku Fakhry.

Mohd Sabri, who is a close friend of Tengku TT - as the prince is commonly known - also expressed hopes that Manohara will apologise to clear the air.

He said: "Impossible as a human being that he can be cruel when we all know that he loves her so much. Tengku will not run away; we'll make sure the truth comes out.

He later produced footage of the couple's happy moments together. "To repair the damage, Manohara needs to tell the truth, seek the husband's forgiveness and Tengku TT will take her back," said Mohd Sabri.

He blamed Manohara's mother, whom he described as materialistic, for messing up the daughter's marriage which otherwise could have worked.

"She wants everything - house, cars, you name it. I don't want to go into details," said Mohd Sabri.

In a statement issued, the Kelantan royal family urged the media to respect their privacy and not to play up on the scandal that is fast becoming a major embarrassment to the royal family. - CNA /ls
